Bear Lake Business
1. CABIN CLEANING
The cleaning contact is:
Jordan Parry, PO Box 125, Garden City, Utah 84028
Lakeviewcabins.net
(435) 881-8280
· Please call ahead to schedule the cleaning and leave a check for $85.00 on the kitchen counter. This does NOT include extras, like taking sheets and towels out to be washed. Remember to bring your own.
2. CALENDARING
Remember that each family has been scheduled in two-week intervals at Broadbentbearlake.blogspot.com (Ray’s family blocked in blue, Colleen’s family in red – GO Utes!, and Joe’s family in green). Each of those two weeks stands alone and should be scheduled individually. For example, in June Holly scheduled the first of Colleen’s red weeks, and Megan scheduled the second. When Holly leaves at the end of her visit she will clean it or have it cleaned. Megan will do the same.
· TWO DAY NOTICE: If you are planning to use the cabin on your family’s assigned week, be SURE you have it scheduled on the blog! If no name appears on the calendar by 9:00 a.m. the Saturday before, your week is up for grabs.
· UNCLAIMED WEEKS: If you want to use the cabin on an unclaimed week, post a comment after 9:00 a.m. the Saturday morning before. We will calendar it on the blog.
· SWAPPING WEEKS: If you need to schedule in advance a week that belongs to another family, you can arrange for a “swap” through the Amigas. The Amigas of each family involved will be responsible to consult each member of their own family to make sure that they all agree. If there is a unanimous decision to swap weeks from both families the trade can take place. For instance: if Joann knows her family is coming from California during a certain week that Colleen’s family has, she’ll ask Lorna to work out a swap of weeks with Holly.
Please enjoy! Also, be patient with each other. There may be unintentional bloopers to work through. Remember Aunt Jayne who welcomed anybody anytime! We’ve ended up there with five other families all at the same time – great memories!
~Love you all~
Favorite Aunt Colleen/Mom
Mom's (Aunt Colleen's) Letter
Uncle Tom ("Dad," to some of you) and I spent hours and hours and many plastic garbage bags last weekend, getting the cabin to a point where we can enjoy it. If you think back to how you remember Aunt Jayne's cabin, THAT'S exactly what it looks like today! I have contacted someone who will go in and do some deeper cleaning than I was able to accomplish, and hopefully it will all be done in the next day or two.
Tom spent lots of time mowing and cleaning up the grounds. I think I've also found someone who will take care of that for us, but until we get the good word from him, you'll all be in charge of that on your weeks up there: There is a mower in the garage.
I hope we can get a couple summers out of the cabin before we need to do any big remodeling. We need to be sure it will be appreciated used before we sink much money into it, BUT - that orange carpeting HAS TO GO! I'm waiting to hear back from a man who is giving me bids on the cost of replacing it and doing the kitchen floor. I'll try not to let maintenance interrupt any of your stays in the cabin. BE SURE you have your name on the weeks you want to use it - through your amigas - so I will know when to schedule big things, like recarpeting.
There are blankets, sheets and towels of Aunt Jayne's still up there, but I would recommend bringing your own as we have no way of washing them! You'll feel much better using things you KNOW are clean! Plenty of pillows are there as well, but, again, bring your own pillow slips. (If you sleep in Aunt Jayne's sheets, please remake the bed with other sheets you'll find in the drawers, and take the ones you used to the laundromat or home to wash and send them back up, clean, with the next family.)
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and some food - spices, coco puffs, etc. Feel free to use what food is there so we can get rid of it, but bring your own with you. The out of date things have been tossed. Bring dish cloths and dish towels. There are cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink and a vacuum in the closet, brooms and dust pans in the kitchen. More details will follow.
The bed situation is this:
Front Bedroom - 1 qn bed
Two middle bedrooms - a set of bunk beds and a single bed in each
Back bedroom - 1 qn bed and a twin bed
Crib - in the closet of one of the middle bedrooms, there appears to be a complete crib with a mattress that could be set up.
Again, bring your own bedding and blankets for it. As soon as I have it tied down, I'll supply the name and number of a house cleaner you can call and pay to come clean up after you leave.
I hope you have a great summer at the lake!
When you are ready to go, call me and I'll tell you where the key is hidden.
Love you all~Aunt Colleen ("Mom" to 4 of you)
Letter To The Grandchildren
“Gramps” or “Grandpa B.” would have been 100 years old on September 2, 2009! Your parents are celebrating his 100th birthday by purchasing Aunt Jayne’s Bear Lake Cabin for our three families - because we love you! It will be titled to Broadbent Bear Lake, LLC, and will be ours to enjoy.
The cabin is available year round. Use of the cabin will rotate every two weeks. One person from Joe’s family, Ray’s family, and Colleen’s family will represent their own siblings with input from their Grand Pooh-Bahs - otherwise known as “parents.” A web site calendar will be set up with the schedule below.
The three family reps, AKA “The Three Amigos,” will schedule their own family’s reservations within their calendared weeks. If there is a time when no one from the scheduled family is using the cabin, you may request, through the “Amigo” of that family, to use it in their stead. This year’s “Three Amigos (or Amigas)” will be: Holly from Colleen’s family, Emily from Ray’s, and Lorna from Joe’s. Congratulations on this coveted title and honor! Next year you appoint your Amigo.
Basic rules we must all agree to follow
2. The cabin will be open to you starting at noon on Mondays, ending on Sundays, two weeks in a row for each main branch (JSB, RSB, CBP) of the J.R. and Lorna Broadbent family tree.
3. Schedule your time in the cabin so that the last 4 hours of your stay is used for cleaning. It must be left in perfect order for the next occupants. If you prefer, you can hire a house cleaner to come in Monday morning and do it for you. If the next occupants find it dirty, they will hire the house cleaner and charge you for it!
4. Checklists will be posted for you to follow and initial as you enter, clean, and exit the cabin.
5. Pack in everything you need and pack out everything you brought in, including trash and food not consumed. Be sure the fridge is empty and wiped out. Spoiling food can be a HUGE problem!
6. Aunt Jayne’s furniture and kitchen utensils are there for us, but there is no washer so bring your own sleeping bags or bedding, towels, dish cloths and towels, soap, toilet paper, paper goods, etc.
7. Whoever has the cabin the weekend FOLLOWING the 24th of July gets to host the Broadbent Family reunion, and will be invaded by everyone… Don’t worry; we’ll all get that blessing every three years!
8. No parking on the lawn past the garage; only in the back of the lot inside or outside of the gate.
9. The schedule will continue to rotate in this order, giving each family different weeks, two weeks at a time, throughout the years.
